Switzerland
Switzerland boasts a stunning collection of majestic, glacier-clad peaks soaring above idyllic valleys. Base camps, ranging from small villages to world class resorts, boast extensive networks of well-marked and maintained trails allowing hiker's easy access to this amazing alpine scenery. Trails between base camps are easily linked to create sensational point-to-point, multi-day hiking trips.
Linking the villages, towns, cities and trailheads is one of the world's best transportation systems. Trains, buses, cable cars and gondolas, with well-timed connections, whisk hikers to their destination.
The Valais
The Valais, in southwestern Switzerland, is home to some of the most dramatic scenery in the country. Stunning, ice clad peaks tower above gorgeous meadows sprinkled with charming alpine villages and world class resorts, such as Zermatt and Saas Fee. Fifty peaks, including the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and the Dom, soar over 13,000-ft. (4,000-m), more than any other region in the Alps.
Some of the finest hiking in Switzerland is found in the Valais. An excellent network of trails offer endless opportunities for hikers to explore the high summits, cross panoramic passes and travel through scenic alpine valleys. The linked regional network facilitates hikes between locations. The most famous multi-day hike, the Walker's Haute Route, travels through some of the Valais' best scenery.

The Bernese Alps
The Bernese Alps, in west-central Switzerland, are a wonderland of dramatic walls of rock and ice towering above a lush landscape of beautiful forests and meadows sprinkled with wildflowers. This spectacular area is famous for a trio of massifs – the Eiger, Monch and the Jungfrau, along with splendid scenery and excellent hiking trails.
A profusion of trails wander through verdant valleys, traverse scenic ridges, visit stunning viewpoints and cross panoramic passes. Along the way hikers visit a range of charming Swiss villages from Lauterbrunnen to the popular ski resort of Grindelwald. In addition to day hikes, the most spectacular portion of the Via Alpina, a long distance hiking trail, passes through the heart of the region from Meiringen to Kandersteg.

Eastern Switzerland
The Upper and Lower Engadine and Davos are located in the Graubunden canton in eastern Switzerland. The Engadine offers a multitude of great hiking trails from easy walks along beautiful lakes to the moderate jaunts between rustic villages to strenuous trails climbing over panoramic passes.
In the Lower Engadine, Scuol is a great basecamp for the area’s lovely hikes, including trails in the Swiss National Park. In the upper Engadine, the jet-set ski resort of St. Moritz or more laid back Pontresina, offer easy access to a wide range of hikes in the beautiful lake district as well as the Bernina Valley.
Davos, a famous ski resort to the west of the Engadine, is set amid the peaks of the Plessur, Albula and the Silvretta Alps. A network of splendid hikes crisscross the region, traversing high routes, ascending stunning valleys clad in beautiful meadows and crossing scenic passes with breathtaking views.
